Mining Irony

“Humor brings insight and tolerance. Irony brings a deeper and less friendly understanding.“–Agnes Repplier

If irony were an element in the Periodic Table, it would be toward the bottom among the heavy metals. But unlike its namesake Iron, Irony is unstable. Exposed to air it oxidizes into the more stable compound Coincidence. But when it comes in contact with Sanctimony and Hubris, explosive reactions are likely to occur. Within the boundaries of Fennimore county, large veins of Irony exist below the fertile topsoil and have been known to affect local compass bearings, other electro-magnetic phenomena, and self-image.
